The other choice might be a DISTILLATE burning tractor, which might only be a straight M. One of the reasons for the "SUPER" designation was the larger cubic inch higher compression engine(45+ HP versus 35 for an M on distillate). Since the M and SM overlapped in 1953 I'm inclined to believe you have a redecaled M.
