Farmall H PTO Shaft Size

I have a pretty simple inquiry. I have a 1942 Farmall H that has a 1 1/8 size PTO shaft. Is this the standard/original size that the tractor would have come off the line with? A few fellows have been telling me that it should have had the standard 1 3/8 size.

On another note, I have been using an increaser adapter (1 1/8 female to 1 3/8 male) to hook-up up to a pull behind bush hog. I have managed to blow apart two of these increasers in the past couple of weeks, but haven’t done any (maybe a little minor) damage to the PTO shaft or the bush hog. Any suggestions? Are there 1 1/8 sizes yokes out there that I could just swap out from the bush hog (which currently has a 1 3/8 size yoke) so there is then no need for an adapter?
