To add to what little john said, the delco alternator to use is the model 10SI. I think the Napa part number is something like 1017 or something like that. If you just tell your parts man you need an alternator off a late 70's or early 80's pickup they will get you what you need. We have 2 H's and an M with these alternator's on them an they fit right in under the hood with NO problem whatsoever. You can use the original H generator bracket and use a piece of all thread an some washers to get the alternator where it needs to be to line up with the belt. Our conversions have been on for close to 20 years and they are still going as stong as the day we put them on.
