I'm starting to restore a 1947 Cub that I purchased a year ago. It was complete but the engine needs a complete overhaul. This tractor had a magneto ignition originally but someone has converted to a battery by bypassing the magneto and adding a coil with wires from an improvised switch to the coil and stil using the distributor head from the mag. I want to restore this tractor to as near original as possible but I'm not a whiz on ignitions. I'm sure the mag will need to be rebuilt if I go that route. What would most of you recommend -- going back to the mag ignition or converting properly to a battery ignition?
