Im somewhat confused as to why the tranny top has to be removed to replace the bearing. While Im sure the more knowledgable will correct me, but cant the bearing be changed by dropping the pump and removing the linkaging for the clutch, removing the drive cog on the shaft, removing the 6 bolts and pulling the housing and constant mesh gear and replacing the bearing(s)? Could be wrong, but seems I had to replace that bearing before and thats all I did.
