I got about two gallons out of one H and about a gallon outta the other, very common. If they have been sitting for a while you can drain off the water and then top them up, but..if the rear gear oil hasn't been changed in a loonnngggg time ..then change it..oh and you will probably discover an oil leak after you fill it to the mark. It will need a seal in the drive shaft coupler. One thing H and M owners didn't do a lot of was service their tractors, they were so simple and reliable that topping up was all they mostly got.
