The need for single or double acting is determined by the application. Single acting will apply force in only one direction. It that case the opposite direction is usually be gravity, but it can be with a spring. Double acting will apply force both directions. If you use a single acting application, you will need an additional reservoir since all the fluid to extend the cylinder must come from the reservoir. In the double acting application, fluid is returned from one end of the cylinder to the reservoir as the piston moves replacing what came out. Thus you do not need as much reservoir capacity. However, you must add a vent to your reservoir as the Super A reservoir has none and with the remote, you may end up putting excess pressure on the system if you don't have a vent.
