That engine may have more hp in the Avery since the engine the B is 113cid unless it has an overbore kit and that only raises it to 123cid.
Having the valves overhead makes them easier to adjust. When flat heads were used in cars and trucks you had to work under the fender to adjust the valves or replace a broken valve spring. That shouldn't be that hard on a tractor.
My sister had a Ramber American and it broke a valve spring and the owner of the garage was a WWI vet and he just leaned over the fender and changed the spring and adjusted it. Hal
