I had the same problem with my 424. It is a big job, not that difficult, just time consuming. When you take the brake housing off you can see the seal but you must remove the hydraulic housing under the seat and remove the bull pinion gear in order to remove the bearing cage. This entails removing the axle in order to remove the pinion gear. The parts are heavy so it is good to have some help at least when you are putting it back together. Depending on which side is leaking you may have to remove the pto shaft in order get enough room in the transmission case to move the bull gear and pinion gears. The IT manual should help but it is not completely clear how it all comes apart.Good luck. Dave
