There are a couple of different style nuts available to correct this problem. One style is a split tapered sleeve type that is screwed on the damaged thread and then another nut is added over the tapered threads on the outside of the sleeve to clamp it tight on the damaged threads. The other style is a split nut with a cinch bolt through it. The nut is threaded on the damaged threads and then the cinch bolt is drawn up to clamp tightly on the damaged threads.
