Cranking great does not diagnose the spark. Sometimes a set of weak dirty points, a weak coil or condenser will require full volts to make fire. Pulling it does that. Is it still 6v. ? If so are the battery cables O ga. or OO ga wires? If not they should be to provide full amps to the starter/ignition. if 12v it needs at least 2ga wire in the bat cables. Old is dead on with the fuel shut off (always do it even for a half hour shutoff). JimN
