Raymond: ACE moldboards have a unique feature, and I say this because your not finding replacements in Europe with same curve. After ACE moldboards are installed on the plow, you can change to curve, by adjustment of the braces on back of moldboard. These also have to be adjusted when changing from 10" to 12" or 14". It is recomended that one change that adjustment with temp above 24C. It warns that a cold moldboard will crack.

I have the directions somewhere on that adjustment, I only ever used it a few times, the last being about 5 years ago. I bought a plow with different curve on each mold board. A previous owner had replaced a moldboard and adjusted braces to shape of moldboard.

The ACE moldboard is the same regardless of which plow it comes from. It could be used on all adjustable frame IH plows built at Hamilton ON. The ACE bottom was also a Hamilton product. Here in North America most of those plows were sold in New England or Eastern Canada. Those bottoms will bolt up to Little Genius plows, however I doubt if that ever happened. In those days the rest of Canada and the rest USA wanted GP bottoms, forged at Canton IL. Demand was such that GP bottoms got installed on the Canadian No.8 tractor plow but I doubt if ACE bottoms ever got installed on a Little Genius No.8.

When I lived in Nova Scotia, never saw a No. 8 tractor plow with GP bottoms, they were all ACE. Here in southern Ontario, thay are probably 50-50, and as you go west from here, you never see an ACE bottom.

Today's Featured Article - The Cletrac General GG and the BF Avery A - A Bit of History - by Mike Ballash. This article is a summary of what I have gathered up from various sources on the Gletrac General GG and the B. F. Avery model A tractors. I am quite sure that most of it is accurate. The General GG was made by the Cleveland Tractor Company (Cletrac) of Cleveland, Ohio. Originally the company was called the Cleveland Motor Plow Company which began in 1912, then the Cleveland Tractor Company (1917) and finally Cletrac. ... [Read Article]
