If I have to center it on the loader arm, it's not worth leaving at 48". It'll stick way off to the right and won't even cover the left wheels.
After I'm done welding it you won't even be able to tell it was cut. No worries about it being signifigantly weakened... Besides, I'm only going to be using this tractor for light light light loader work. Moving snow. Moving loose dirt. Moving my torch set from the garage to the barn and back. Moving some firewood. The bucket is really overkill for that.
