The industrials were painted yellow. Not all had the foot throttle though. My 2606 doesn't.
Check the id tag and serial number and compare on the caseih.com site. 5 speed or hydrostat? forward & reverse lever on left? PTO? Any number on the loader frame?
Sounds awful high for one that doesn't run. The guy being no mechanic so they parked it sounds kinda weak to me. More like an excuse not to know about the cracked block, thrown rod or something. Tell her your no mechanic either and it might need a few thousand dollar repair so $500 is your best offer.
