Kevin...I converted one a few years ago...I'm guessing your condenser is probably shot....I did the same thing. converted and ran straight 12V. was raking hay one day and the tractor died...changed the condenser and started right back up..then I added a ballast resistor to the system...I believe that almost all need the voltage cut back from the 13.5 to 14 V the alternator is putting out...you can get one for like 3 or 4 dollars...I did this and have had zero trouble since...let me know if I can tell you what else I did...sure made a lot better tractor out of mine...good luck...with the resistor the voltage will be somewhere around 8 or 9 volts going to the ignition system...
