You say filter in your post. A 300U only has a screen in the suction line (as described below) if yours has had a filter installed, it may be the problem in a nutshell. The suction side of the pump is very sensitive to restriction. If you can find a very free flowing filter element, (or no element if possible) try that. There are filters that will work, but they need to be rated to flow about 2 to 3 times the pump output, to be non-restrictive enough. If it is a spliced in filter with hose clamps, Take it out and put in a straight hose to see if it is operational. I would also purchase a pint of Hytran (or equal viscosity) and compare it to the fluid in your tank. If it is thickening with cold it will contribute to the problem. If it were mine, and I was intent on having it filtered, it would have paralleled 15gpm filter elements with probably 10 micron trapping. If I put that in the suction line, I would take out the screen in the tank to reduce that from causing problems. JimN
