The engine block on my 44 H has a boss on the lower right side of the block for an oil dipstick. It was never drilled. As I hated the double drain cock system of checking oil level, I drilled the boss, and fitted it with a 3/8" diam copper tube (about 4" long, maybe just a bit less). I then appropriated a dipstick from a Ford 8N and used it in the copper tube. I adjusted the "full" position of the dipstick by hammer tapping the tube further into the block. This has worked good for more than 20 years. Now I easily check the oil level every time I use this tractor.
