I think you're going at it wrong...you need to take the nut off the rear of the fan hub mount...that will let you slip the belts on...I hope I'm remembering right...I'm pretty sure I am...with the nut removed, you can slip the belts on while holding the fan hub assembly toward the radiator...its kind of hard but as I recall thats the way I did it...I think the srew you took out is actually where you lubricate the bearing in the fan hub...hope this helps...I think you need a 13/16th and a 15/16ths wrenches to do it...hope this helps you...
