Questions about a B

I'm looking for some help...I've been watching for a Farmall for a while and now have a chance to get a "B" for $800. It starts easy, runs well, has a belly mower, converted to 12V, poor back rubber, but usable.
This will be my first tractor. I'm 51 years old, retired from the Navy, looking for something to mow a level 2.5 acres and work on. Probably plow a garden if I can find a plow too.
What do you think?
The guy lives a couple miles from me, and I've seen him run it regularly.
Does it sound right?
