39 or 40. Also if the engine is original the engine serial is the same as the original chassis serial. Engine serial is stamped below the #1 spark plug. Beginning serials for each year are listed under Research and Info to your left. Also casting codes in the form of 1*8*J are on most of the major castings, but may be few and far between on an early B. The J means 1940, 1939 is I, etc.
