Bring No1 piston near the radiator to TDC on the compression stroke. Remove No1 sparkplug and hold your thumb over the plug hole while someone hand cranks the engine until the piston is at TDC. Then remove the cap and see where the rotor is pointing. It should be pointing to the No1 plug tower on the cap. Both valves on No1 should be closed when you're at TDC on No1 cylinder. If the rotor is off you will need to pull the mag or distributor and turn the rotor so its near the 1 & 2'o'clock position and reinstall. The plug wires need to go to the corresponding plugs in this firing order from the cap to the plug: Hal PS: The rotor turns CW. 2-1 4-3
