The more I look at mine, the more that seems like the case. The underside of the tractor shows signs of red but the hoe,bucket and sheet metal are yellow to the steel. It sounds like the Pippin/Cone attatchments would have been installed per order from IH so I have to believe they started with a red "core" tractor and built the "as ordered machine" then painted it all yellow.
