Great little tractor, I have four of them in Ag tractor form and also one industrial with a loader and backhoe (3414). Paid less then $1000 for all the ag tractors.

B275 and B414 are almost the same tractors, except the B414 - if diesel - has a bigger engine and also had a power steering option.

Parts are available aftermarket or direct from Case-IH. If you buy parts from Case-IH, they come in a Mahindra box since Mahindra (in India) still makes the same basic tractor new - but with a different engine.

B275s are usually great bargains. Where else are you going to buy a tractor for $1000 or less - with . . . live PTO, live hydraulics, differential lock, four speed trans with hi and low range making it an 8 speed forward and two in reverse, etc. I've run a five foot rototiller, five foot brush hog, and a five foot snowblower with mine - no problem.

If the B275 is a diesel, same engine is used in many other IH machines included crawlers. It will be the BD144 engine and you can buy all the rebuild parts right here on this website. If it's a gas engine - it's a BC144 and not so common, making some parts more pricey and scarce. Carburetor is a British Zenith V or VN - and has nothing to do with the US Zenith company. Sleeves in the gas engine are the same part # as for the BD144 diesel.

One note: If a diesel, the very early B275s have inline CAV injection pumps with air-governors. They are usually horrible starters in cold weather and parts are hard to get. If a later B275, it will have a CAV rotary pump which is a much better starter and parts are common.

Today's Featured Article - Tuning-Up Your Tractor: Plugs & Compression Testing - by Curtis Von Fange. The engine seems to run rough. In the exhaust you can hear an occasion 'poofing' sound like somethings not firing on all cylinders. Under loaded conditions the tractor seems to lack power and it belches black smoke out of the exhaust. For some reason it just doesn't want to start up without cranking and cranking the starter. All these conditions can be signals that your unit is in need of a tune up. Ok, so what is involved in a tune up? You say, swap plugs and file the points....now tha ... [Read Article]
