Can you put up a lean-to of any kind---just to keep the weather off of the tractor? Something off of a shed or the house? Water or condensation will find its way into any tractor rear-end. If you can't get the unit under cover, when freezing weather is coming along, pull the drain plug out to the last thread & let the water out. It will be on the bottom of the transmission case & will drain out easily. You are lucky that the transmission wasn't totally locked up with the ice.
