I have a 706 farmall that currently has the fasthitch. My qeustion is I would like to buy a blade or a snowblower for it and would need it to be three point. I already have a clevis on the tractor for the top link but am not sure what to buy, how many inches long does the toplink need to be and does it need to be a cat 2 or three? The other thing is I see some inserts for sale on ebay that I can plug into the fast hitch to make them three point arms. There are ones that are straight and are cat 2 ($125), and there are ones that are flared out that are also cat 2 ($350). They both look soild and I like the price of the cheaper ones but don't want to buy them if they would not work for a cat 2 implement, would there be enough width unless they had the flare out on them. This is a relativly new tractor to me and could really use the advise of you guys who have already had to live through figuring these things out. Thank you much.
Randy
I don't have a 706, With a FH but I do have a SC, With a FH. The FH arms you are talking about, are they flared out, OR do they angle up? The reason I ask is, the arms on mine are strait. When they are strait your lift will be up about 1/3 to 1/2 raised just to hook up to the equipment. When you lift your equipment you won’t have much height at all. If they angle up that will give you more height on the lifted equipment.
The issue of width will be a little tougher to get a fix on. You will need to measure the distance between the arms and then you will have to measure the equipment. When I hook up my arms won’t swing out. So I have to take the arms out of the FH and put them on the equipment I am using, then I have to back into them with help from someone holding the arms. It is not easy to do and I guess it could be a little dangerous if your helper got in the way. The easiest thing for you to have is a 2 point to 3 point converter. I got one for mine and I like it a lot. Here are a couple of pictures.
If it were me and I had to get arms, I would look for arms that angle up to get more height. Ron
