IH made a diesel version of the M the MD. I've got an M and an MD, and I woudn't want to try making one into the other. Many small differences, longer frame and sheetmetal are just a few basic ones. Probably a lot of old MD's out there yet that with a lot of money can be ok tractors. If your really gung ho and time and money are no object I would lean toward a new generation diesel motor. A much more usable machine when you're finished. G
