there is no adjustment on the worm gear...however i had one that the bearing on the end was loose..you can also pull the gear and change the position of it 180degrees...this will put new teeth where it sits on center...you can do this without pulling the front casting...if I were you I'd pull the cap on the front and wiggle the shaft and see if you have end play...it may be that you have the same thing I had..I found that the teeth on the worm gear and the other gear were almost perfect..the bearing I'm referring to is held in a fixed position by the casting on one end and a bearing retainer on the other..there is a nut holding the bearing on the worm gear shaft if this is loose that would allow the worm gear shaft to move in and out and allow slop...I'd also make certain my steering U joints were good... hope this may be of help...
