Take the brake cover off an you will find aocuple of fiber discs that fit on a splined shaft. Between these discs are acouple of steel discs with springs holding them together. If you take these apart, there are some bsteel balls between them in ramp like grooves. these have to be cleen and rust free. |After cleaning them we used to put a little never-seeze or other anti-seeze lubricant on them, but just a little. Clean out the brake chamber, and sannd the fiber disc surfaces llightly to take off the glaze. They then should work. Our 350 used to need this once or twice a year, depending on use. Used to accidently take off when balling with the left on locked on and didn't notice untill the next time we went to stop, then it almost threw the one on the wagon off the front. Also got the outside cover quite hot (black). Quite common with the early IH disk brakes.
