Well ya had best pull the side cover as well , now keep in mind here that you will loose about a gallon of hy tran when this cove is pulled . Ya have to pull it to get the rev. shift fork back on when going back together . Now to remove the shift fork on the H-L-N- shifter remove the bolt that goes thru the shift fork then place the shifter forward so that the collar engages the ft. gear and with a pair of vice grips work the shaft reward JUST ENOUGH to remove the shift fork. Then do everything in reverse when going back together. Now here is a word to the wise here check thru the archives on the way to adjust the clutch dump valve and trans brake. As i would venture to say that 706 is a weeeeeee BIT hard shifting and this is what caused the problem.
