Lets start at the top and work back so to speak. First off make sure you have a good white/blue spark that will jump a 1/4 inch gap. No spark all the gas in the world and it still not run. Pull the cap, rotor, dust cover. Turn the key on and with the points closed open and close them by hand. Do you get a spark/snap at the points?? If yes then check to make sure it will jump that 1/4 inch gap. If it does both then pull the air intake tube off and hold your hand over the carb and spin it over. MAKE sure its out of gear. It should suck on your hand pretty good and you hand should get wet with gas. If it does then you have low compression for some reason. Sticking rings or valve or both.
