The oil was milky so I drained the transmission completely,rinsed with kerosene and refilled with new oil.The fill plug I checked had a 1/2" square head on it instead of a 5/16" square hole.Is this the right plug?It was in the location you said to look so I assumed it had been changed at some point. Once again thanks for all your advice.It has been very helpful.It is good to know there are still people willing to help others without trying to profit from it.I just hope one day I can return the favor to you or someone else who is struggling with a problem.
