Clefus: I never had a IH or MF spreader of that era, but did have a NH. The gear box on left and floor chain ratchet look very much like my NH. I'm not suggesting you have a NH manure spreader, as the box looks very much IH, from a buyer guide I have.
My thoughts, this spreader is 1960s technology and companies like IH, MF, NH, etc. were very likely outsourcing parts by then, maybe even buying from each other. It could be some of these parts like gear boxes, ratchets, etc. are the same on several makes of spreaders.
