The swinging drawbar was a great addition to those early tractors which had a fast hitch, for example the 1954 Super C, even thou you had the u shape drawbar this tractor came with a swinging drawbar (which was great when you pulled a disk) that hooked under the belly of the tractor. Whenever we pulled something heavy, my grandfather would forbid us from pulling from the the drawbar itself, saying we would break something. Pulling off the swinging drawbar you actually would pull from the belly of the tractor...it would help to keep the front end on the ground as well, especially on those lighter weighted tractors. I have seen these swinging drawbars on Super C's and other models including the 806's.
The attachment triangle piece you mentioned which bolts on to the drawbar with two/three bolts works as an alternative to the swing drawbar because you can attach certain equipment eight or so inches further behind the tractor. Without this attachment or the swing drawbar many implements are attached to close to the tractor and interferes with turning(rear wheels hitting the implement your towing)
Anyway, thanks for your response on this topic. I learn something everyday.
(I have a fast hitch manual in front of me, with traction control) and it does not even mention a swinging drawbar)
