Scotty, I did that about 10 years ago. Way back in high school the senior trip was to Toronto. Of course I had some Canadian currency left over, but only a few singles and some change. I stuff it in an old piggy bank and forget about it.
Fast forward about 6 years. By then the loonie had been around a while and the twonie was fairly new. Work sends me to Mississauga for technical training. Didn't know about the coins, so I took my Canadian money with me to spend. You should've seen the looks on their faces then. I can't imagine what it'd be like now.
Paid for gas to get home with pocket change. Kinda cool to reach into your pocket, and pull out $20 in a handful of coins.
