Is the oil liquid and slippery? Yes? Then it's good enough for testing.
Really, oil is oil. If you're somewhere near right on the viscosity, the hydraulic pump can't tell whether it's SAE10, HyTran, or extra virgin olive. Neither can the hoses, valves, or cylinders.
The major differences between the oils are the additive packages which do things like keep the moisture in suspension, or keep the sludge from building up.
