No, i think it is just normal wear and tear! I worked in a Ford Dealer mechanic shop, many years ago,and occasionally, a car would come in, needing a new ring gear on the flywheel. And, it was usually a car belonging to a local town resident, who did a lot of starting of the engine! When you shut off any engine, it usually stops revolving when it is not on the compression stroke, which causes wear when you go to restart it later.
