Don"t know how "correct" you want to be, sometimes just getting it starting on gas, switching to diesel and back without draining the battery can be correct enough. My 51 has a 12v generator and a battery under the tank. I think your 48 should have had a 6v generator with a 6v battery under the tank and the seat but I'm not 100% sure.
