Like previous poster said, not much in there, and the pedal should not touch the platform as that will keep valve from fully seating. I have seen some break the spring inside and also it common for them to leak internally , get hyd fluid behind the piston and then they return very slowly to engage position, especially in cold weather. It is filled with kerosene when new on that side as a dash pot so a controlled release is possible. If just let the oil out from behind piston by taking the cap loose. If you think the foot n inch valve is causing a drive problem, just take off the return line and no fluid should leak out when running and pedal is up in drive position.
