I"ll throw in a 3rd for the soldered ends. I just made a new cable for myself out of 2/0 guage marine grade cable. A little pricey, but it"s worth it. I used a soldered lug on one end, and a soldered ring on the other. Lots of flux, and be warned - It does take a surprising amount of solder to fill the ends properly. To make it super neat, I slipped on a piece of shrink tubing beforehand, then after I was through with the torch and solder, slid it up just over the end of the lug/ring and heated it gently to shrink it up. Boy does it look nice! Shrink tubing hides the end of the cable insulation which gets just a little burned by the torch and seals things up to make it a virtual lifetime lasting cable.
It's a 5 minute job, very much worth the added expense and effort. I've looked at your photos of your beautiful shop and the thoroughness with which you are going through that tractor, and I'll be honest - my cable looks like something you would do!!!
By the way, mine is still the original 6 volt with the points, and boy does it crank nice now with good connections and big cable!
