The rear end on our 1486 calfed last fall, the bearings on the bull pinion shaft went out, no warning of any kind, I just got done ploughing and headed down the road in 3rd high and BAM the whole thing stopped dead in its tracks. There I sat in the middle of the road and couldn't move. We had to put a new bull gear and bull pinion gear in, cost about $2000 plus bearings. best way to check bull pinon bearings is to pull the brakes off then your right at them, if it's a tractor you use alot and has some hours on it, might not hurt to renew them anyway. The funny thing is we takled about rebearing the rear end a couple months before. Just thought I would share some experience I had.
