Last summer my 300U hydraulics quit working, then the starter quit, so I hadn't messed with it since about August. The starter was a bad solenoid, which I replaced last week. When I started it, still no hydraulics. Today I was getting ready to move the tractor to a place where the grass was mowed to work on the hydraulics, I had pretty much resigned myself to tearing apart the regulator/safety/flow divider valve, but when I started it, the power steering started working and the fast hitch started working. I'm very happy about this, but stumped about the cause of the problem. Suppose some foreign matter got into the system and plugged an orifice or jammed the regulator or safety valve open? And what would cause it to fix itself? All I did since starting it last time was clean the grime away from the area I was planning on taking apart. Didn't whack it with a hammer or anything, but I did use an impact wrench to remove the fender, which is next to it. Curious.
