Well!
I ONLY use special Farmall Super A motor oil, made in the IH Super A Oil Factory in my '52 model. IH had to invent new Super oil for the Super series of tractors. If used in anything other than a Farmall Super series engines all sorts of bad things will happen. For example...a standard letter series engine's rods will dissolve due to the special additives in Super series oil! If used in any other brand of tractor, the engines will run so fast..they will sling themselves apart.
You better stick with oil made in the farmall A oil factory and specifically marked ONLY for use in a Farmall A engine. I've heard that if you substitute Farmall B oil in an A, by the next morning the wide front end will morph into a tricycle! If you use C oil in an A...the back wheels will enlarge and destroy the original tires.
Yeah...bad stuff happens without the correct motor oil in the crankcase.
Pssst: Don't tell anybody.....BUT, 10W-30 or 10w-40 high detergent works just fine...hehe!

When I was old enough (7 or 8), I would get up early and be dressed to
