You can loosen the cover by carefully tapping a rigid paint scraper into various places. I always use an engine hoist to lift it. You shouldn't need heat. Parts diagrams are in the parts section of www.caseih.com. Eventually you will need the whole manual. A manual in the place you are working on the tractor is much better than constantly printing off pages.
