Hi Bob, Hugh is corret the pin, leaf spring and adjusting bolt make up the tripping nechanism on each plow beam. The adjusting bolt controlled the force required to trip the beam. This is a requiement unless you have rock and root free fields to plow. The trip mechanism was well excerised on the farm that I grew up on. No chance that the beams would rust solid.
