My father-in-law and I are working on getting an old IH B414 up and running. It had a new-ish set of points, distributor cap, rotor button, and condenser. It would not start but after a few minutes of troubleshooting we found a bad voltage reducer. One of my father in laws friends stopped by and said he could get us running. Well, he did but only for about ten minutes. The points got burnt and the spring steel in the points lost there temper. I"m looking for a good diagram of how we should go about completely re-wiring the whole tractor and trying to find a set of new points. I looked the points up in a wells catalog and ordered them only to find out that they were wrong. I took the points off and noticed that they were stamped " Lucas England". The only mention of the lucas ignition in the wells catalog was for the coil. They only mention the delco ignition for the points. Has anyone else had this problem? The serial number on this tractor is 868. It has a gasoline 441 engine.
