The balanced-head mowers are basically the same, just a different mounting system and lift system for the bar... after looking in my shop manual I see the 1000 looks the same as the 120, so I may be wrong - however, the 1000 is just the updated model built 1968 and later according to the manual.
I should get someone who knows tech to scan these manuals into PDF format so I can share more easily...
