You should only use Farmall Brand motor oil, made in the IHC refinery and specifically marked model M motor oil. It comes in 2 types and on the top of the can...it will be plainly marked 'SUMMER' or 'WINTER'.
IE., Model M motor oil....SUMMER
Summer motor oil will make your engine run too hot in the winter and vice-versa, your engine will stay cold in the summer if you use winter oil.
Never ever use JD oil in your Farmall tractor, it will only run on 2 cylinders if you do.
Never ever run Ford motor oil in your Farmall or it will cease to run altogether.
Oh yes, I forgot to add; not any Farmall oil will work in your M, either!
Farmall A motor oil will make your M lean to one side..the left.
