Plan every step and think about what might go wrong. The tractor is heavier than you think it is, no matter how heavy you think it is. Use stout cribbing to support it: not just a jack. If it falls on you it is likely to kill you (or leave you wishing it had).
Also think about how you are going to get the new axle into position. It is also heavier than you think it is. You aren"t going to be able to hold it up with one hand and put bolts in with the other.
