If gas flow to the carb is slow, might want to check for scale in the gas tank. Had a similar issue on mine where loose scale would block the flow of gas into the bowl strainer.
If so, drain the gas, let the tank vent & dry out in the sun, then with a plastic extension, vacuum out any remains in the tank.
