My winter project was an IH 464 gas. I got it in 2 pieces and put it back together. Had the head completely redone, put everything back together and the old girl runs like a top and everything else seems to work great too. Till you advance the throtle. Then it dies out unless you catch it with the choke. I have read all the responses about this problem and I have tried about everything. The one thing I have noticed is that the manifold has cracked on the exhaust part between #1 and #2 port, sometime in the past and has been brazed. Looks like a good job. The IT manual says to turn out the screw on ther electric selenoid fuel shutoff 4 1/2 turns for the 464. Well you can"t turn it out that far. It just fall off. It also says to turn the mixture screw out one complete turn from snug. The tractor starts imediately when you have the throtle shut down and no choke. Runs real good until you advance the throtle or put any kind of load on it. Then it just dies. My only thought is that brazing the manifold may have worped it enough to allow an air leak on the suction side. Haven"t tried the starting fluid test yet. Any ideas?
